What is Aspect Ratio? Simply put, aspect ratio is the relationship between the height and width of a display. Not just smartphones display, but any rectangular display — tablets, laptops, etc. Aspect ratio is also a measurement of how wide or tall a display is but it shouldn’t be mistaken for ‘screen/display size’ which is calculated by measuring diagonally across the screen. Smartphone aspect ratios are commonly written in ratios with the bigger figure on the left side and smaller figure on the right side....

However, while we’re still talking about the foldable technology, its relevance, and whether it is one for the future, a Chinese smartphone manufacturer, TCL, is taking it a step further with its plans to introduce smartphones with “Slide-out” displays. Pictures on CNET suggest that, unlike the folding technology that lets you fold your screen in half (just like the Samsung Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X), when you expand the screen of devices with slide-out displays, it rolls out from the left side of the screen, which turns it to what looks like a 7-inch mini-tablet....

We got our hands on the Camon 17 device to see what it looks and feels like. The device sold for NGN 77,000 naira on popular e-commerce site, Jumia. However, you might be able to get it for slightly lesser when you buy from an offline store (due to the flexibility that comes with price haggling). Here are our first impressions. The earbuds come in two colors; black and white. Our review pieces come in black and we wouldn’t want it any other way. The black blends well with most of my attire so no complaints there. Design Tecno went with a teardrop design on the front and a perfect ear mold at the back to complete the look. The Hipods are teensy weensy bit on the chunky side, so expect them to protrude a little bit....

Telegram desktop available for Linux/Mac/Windows now sports a material design in line with the current trend for for desktop and mobile apps. The transitions between are smoother than before but perhaps the coolest thing about this update is the fact that Telegram desktop now supports custom themes. Obviously the Telegram team understands the Batman struggle. The second sample theme they gave us is the dark theme and it looks just too awesome for words....

The Tecno Phantom A+ completely surprised us coming from a less known vendor — Tecno — in the smartphone market. Tecno is a China-based mobile phone manufacturer that exclusively does business in Africa with its brand presence felt in about 12 countries. The Chinese company before wetting its feet in the smartphone waters, has been known for producing low-end feature phones running harebrained software that’s nowhere close to global brands such as Nokia or Samsung....
