The Draft National Information Technology (IT) Certification Framework is aimed at ensuring IT service providers, IT Education and Training institutions and IT professionals conform to minimum acceptable standards thereby ensuring quality delivery of IT services in the country. Thursday, July 27th is the date to mark on your calendars. HMD Global, the company behind the Nokia branding is set to launch smartphones in Kenya, two days after the Nigerian event to officially launch the smartphones. Speaking to TechArena, HMD’s Global Communication team confirmed that HMD Global has plans to introduce the new Nokia smartphones in Kenya on Thursday next week. We are still not clear on which devices will be unveiled but our guess is, the 3 devices available globally and the 2017 Reincarnation of the virtually indestructible Nokia 3310 will see a reveal into the Kenyan market....

The program is intended to help up to 10,000 budding African entrepreneurs to develop their ideas into sustainable businesses. The foundation plans to provide 1,000 entrepreneurs a year –starting this year– for the next 10 years with seed capital of $5,000 and additional returnable capital of up to $5,000. I ran into this issue yesterday Morning. I could access other websites on Chrome and Firefox on Android, but to my dismay I couldn’t access the same websites from Opera Mini. And I am talking about services that are not part of the 50+ OTT services affected by the new Taxes. MTN confirmed to me via a tweet that they are indeed blocking the whole Opera browser. However, no explanation was given as to why Uganda’s biggest mobile network was doing this while Airtel, Africell and other services providers were not censoring the browser....
