Some traditional banks in Uganda are responding with their own mobile apps. Now most banks already offer mobile banking solutions running on mobile telecom platforms. They are using the good-old USSD shortcodes which conveniently run on any phone — including the feature phone (Katochi/Katala). But maybe dialing *211# for instance to use Centenary bank’s CenteMobile banking platform isn’t as fancy and easy as installing a real native app from the Google Play Store....
