Impact Economy Innovations Fund (IEIF) is a fund which is administered by the Global Impact Investing Network. It provides grant capital for entrepreneurs with projects that create jobs in underserved sectors, and supports proposals geared toward enabling capital solutions, fostering entrepreneurial ecosystems and promoting impact investing industry infrastructure. According to John Kieti from m:lab East Africa, the IEIF grant will assist the m:lab to augment our portfolio of services with improved interventions for social enterprises and enable us increase the potential for success for start-ups that go through our incubation program....

Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) granted the range to MTN allowing MTN customers to now acquire numbers with 076 prefixes. The key to note is that this development will have no effect on already existing numbers that can continue operating as they have. “The existing prefixes and number ranges are not being phased out in any way and customers can continue to use their numbers normally,” Somdev emphasized. However, MTN has stopped selling 077 and 078 ranges as those are no longer available on the network which speaks to the telecom’s growing subscriber base....

Fast forward several years later and Safaricom is over-18 and the 07xx numbers we have grown to know, have all been depleted. The Communication Authority (CA) ‘opened’ a new batch and in August 2019, we saw the first 01xx numbers from Airtel Kenya.
