In this new series, Xiaomi released three smartphones; the Xiaomi 12, 12x, and Xiaomi 12 Pro. However, the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro are flagship devices and are packed with some flagship specs. These include the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, up to 12GB of RAM, 256GB of internal storage, and 5G connectivity. So what exactly do these Xiaomi 12 devices bring to the table? Well, in this post, we shall be looking at exactly that. Let’s start with the devices’ design.
Look and Feel
With a width of just 69.9mm, both devices will feel more secure and comfortable to hold while you use either one or move around. The regular Xiaomi 12 features a 6.28-inch OLED, 2400 x 1080p display, while the Pro model comes with a 6.7-inch WQHD+, 3200 x 1440p display, with some very skinny bezels surrounding the display. It comes in three different colors; purple, blue, and Gray. On the software and hardware side of things, both smartphones are the same. They are both powered by the latest Android 12, with Xiaomi’s MIUI 13 slapped on it. The Xiaomi 12 Pro features the largest internal storage in this series, topping out at 256GB of internal storage which is not expandable. This puts the entire Xiaomi 12 series behind its competitors that offer 512GB and 1TB internal storage options. The Xiaomi 12 flagships both feature a 50-megapixel triple camera setup. However, the regular model is a Sony IMX 766 sensor, while the Pro model is a Sony IMX 707 sensor. Whether this has any effect on image and video quality on these devices, we’ll have to wait to find out. Furthermore, the cameras on both smartphones have motion tracking and eye focus features.
Pricing and Availability
Xiaomi also announced the price of all the smartphones in this series. The Xiaomi 12 Pro model (8/256GB) will be sold for $999, while the regular Xiaomi 12 will go for just $749. The non-flagship model of the bunch, Xiaomi 12X (8/128GB) is the least expensive at just $649.
